Data Governance and Standardization Series

With the ever-increasing volume and sharing of data, Canada urgently needs coherent data governance standards and conformity assessment solutions. Standardization is critical to addressing how data is structured, governed and secured. Our future competitiveness and collaboration depend on robust and reliable data governance systems that enable trust in the management of data by governments, researchers, businesses, communities and citizens.

This six-part learning series aims to raise awareness about the key issues in data governance for the public and private sectors and focuses on presenting the recommendations of the Canadian Data Governance Standardization Collaborative from a variety of perspectives. Offered in collaboration with the Standards Council of Canada, Statistics Canada and the GC data community, the series will illustrate how policy and decision makers can help build a safer and more secure digital infrastructure that is founded on quality, trust and ethics.
