EXecuTALK: Cultivating a Reconciliation Mindset

Description

Executives in the federal public service have a key role to play in establishing and maintaining respectful relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

As leaders, executives are responsible for demonstrating why and how reconciliation is a government priority by:

  • creating space for workplace conversations that acknowledge harmful legacies
  • understanding their role in Indigenous policy-making
  • ensuring meaningful consultations with Indigenous Peoples
  • encouraging employees to prioritize reconciliation training
  • making the recruitment, retention and advancement of Indigenous employees a priority

Join guest speakers Nadine Spence, Executive Director for British Columbia and Yukon, Parks Canada, and Nancy Harris, Director General of Indigenous Learning Services with the Canada School of Public Service, as they discuss how they have used their executive platform to support reconciliation within their own organizations.
