Fostering a Safe and Respectful Workplace
The Government of Canada has taken steps to address harassment and violence in the workplace through a number of initiatives. Yet, public service employee surveys and other evidence indicate that problems persist.
The Clerk of the Privy Council created a Deputy Minister Task Team on Harassment, which tabled a report in August 2018. In Safe Workspaces: Starting a Dialogue and Taking Action, they state, "We are acutely aware that many cases of workplace harassment are never reported. It can be difficult for victims of any form of harassment to come forward. Victims may not know who to turn to, do not always feel safe, and, in many cases, fear reprisal."
This event will feature notable speakers focusing on workplace bullying, disrespectful behaviour, and shifting the culture away from the fear of reprisal.
