The Canada School of Public Service is pleased to present its third Project Management Leadership Week of 2019. These exciting events aim to increase skills and knowledge needed to effectively lead and sponsor projects and large-scale change initiatives in the government context.

Project Sponsor Workshop Pilot

Are you an executive project sponsor and want to learn more about your roles and responsibilities under the new Policy on the Planning and Management of Investment sand the new Directive on the Management of Projects and Programmes?

The Canada School of Public Service is pleased to announce the second pilot of a new project-sponsor workshop. This 1-day workshop was developed in partnership with Employment and Social Development Canada and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to provide an opportunity for executive project sponsors to better understand their roles, responsibilities and accountabilities in sponsoring projects and large-scale change initiatives in the Government of Canada.

We invite you to participate in an engaging discussion on the role of an executive sponsor, the change environment in which projects and large-scale change initiatives operate, and how sponsors can support successful delivery of change within a programme or project environment.

Executive Project Leadership: Driving Transformational Change in the Government of Canada

Effective executive leadership is key to ensuring organizations deliver large-scale projects, programs and change initiatives that are aligned with federal priorities and yield results for Canadians. This event will focus on project leadership skills and competencies, and on how executives can build within their organizations a project leadership culture that:

  • focuses on outcomes
  • develops leadership, talent, and competencies
  • is equipped to adapt and change

Come to this session and learn from Dr. Edward Hoffman, Strategic Advisor for the Project Management Institute (PMI) and former Chief Knowledge Officer at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); Ms. Fiona Spencer, Director of Project Profession and Standards at the UK government's Infrastructure and Projects Authority; and your colleagues from Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Public Services and Procurement Canada, and the Department of National Defence.
