  1. Demo: Virtual Data Community of Practice

Presenter: Major Kim Jones, Data Literacy and Culture Lead, Data and Analytics Community of Practice, Canadian Armed Forces, Department of National Defence (DND)

    Focus:

Major Kim Jones will present the virtual space developed by DND's Assistant Deputy Minister (Data, Innovation, Analytics) Data and Analytics Community of Practice to:

    • access microlearning opportunities (e.g., job aids, videos)
    • learn from peers (e.g., through forum discussions and blogs)
    • access news relevant to the community (e.g., upcoming training and advancements on DND's data strategy implementation)
  2. Demo: COVID-19 Branching Application

    Presenter

David Maybury, Senior Systems Analyst-Head Data Scientist, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC)

    Focus

David will do a demo of the COVID-19 web-based app in support of PSPC's return-to-workplace initiatives. Over the past year, PSPC's Centre for Operational Research and Data Science (CORDS) has supported the Public Health Agency of Canada's (PHAC) COVID-19 modelling efforts. The app is based on their recently published paper, which appeared in the Journal of Theoretical Biology, on COVID-19 propagation during the early stages of an outbreak. It helps senior management understand the risks associated with different levels of COVID-19 workplace mitigation efforts.

  3. Demo: Integrated Service Coordination Centre (ISCC) – Leveraging technology and the cloud to improve service outcomes for Canadians

These efforts will focus on integrating the vast data sources throughout Service Canada, including in-person operations, call centres and processing centres for the first time, employing the tools to help clients receive faster and more effective access to support, and services such as increased resolution at the first point of contact.
